About Giclee
Giclee incorporates the latest technology in laser ink jet printing to produce prints of the highest quality and resolution. The advent of digital photography, the use of archival pigments and papers began the demise of mechanical lithography. Like lithography, Giclee printing is a specialized field and it takes an experienced printer years to achieve the skill needed to produce high quality work. Sandy Neck Studios employs two ateliers both of whom produce work of impeccable quality. Each print is scrutinized personally by the atelier and Peter Richenburg.
Giclee prints are bought and sold in auctions worldwide and have become the accepted medium of reproduction. Noted artist David Hockney is a pioneer in making and marketing this medium. Some artists never sell their originals: they only market limited editions. Sandy Neck Studios does both but usually markets editions of less than one hundred making these prints quite rare. Each signed piece is printed on Somerset Archival Paper and given an edition number. Each print is stamped and comes with a certificate of Authenticity.
