"At The Moorings" |
While the morning mist was still lifting, I began sketching this elegant catboat resting at her moorings in Eel Pond at Woods Hole waiting for what the day might bring. Normally, I look for cast shadows but the light on that particular morning was so soft that only the water bore the intense brilliance of the boat's reflection. The style and palette I chose for this pastel are reminiscent of the hand colored postcards produced in the mid 1900's.
